On Monday 29 October, Primary 6 enjoyed a sunny day out at Edinburgh Zoo. As part of the pupils’ Living and Growing topic, they attended the Cycle of Life workshop led by the wonderful staff in the education centre.
The staff spoke to the children about how some animals find a mate, how they reproduce and how they look after their young. We also had an interesting discussion about the changes animals go through during puberty and got to see a video of a baby elephant from inside the womb. Mr Hutchison, Mr Mitchell and I were all very impressed with how engaged the three classes were and how mature they were during the discussions. Well done, kiddies.
After lunch we had a lovey afternoon power walking our way to the top of the zoo to see the big cats and the zebra. Our favourites, however, were the chimps and the monkeys, who we could have watched all day!
Thank you, P6, for a lovely day out, and special thanks to Calum’s mum, Bethan’s mum, Eddie’s dad and Jennifer’s gran for coming with us.
