A Busy Day in P5B

We have had a really busy and successful day in 5B today. We started the day with a very relaxing art lesson. Using the grid method, we developed our observational drawing skills to help with proportion and scale.

Everyone ended up with their art on the ‘wonderful work’ washing line. It was too hard just to choose some!

Next we went out to the playground to play a game which helped us understand how to find a fraction of an amount. Everyone worked really well in their teams.

We then came back inside to work through some fraction word problems. It was great to see everyone sharing their thinking and strategies with growing confidence.

In the afternoon we carried on our poetry work. We have been studying ‘From a Railway Carriage’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. Today the class worked in groups to learn a section of the poem, adding expression and actions and then we performed it as a class. Everyone enjoyed watching it back on the iPad after.

P5 Summer Fair Stalls

Primary 5 were magnificent on Saturday at the summer fair. They organised their stalls so well, explained the rules to customers, managed money and prizes and made money for the school. We have lots of fabulous entrepreneurs.

P5 Entrepreneurs

P5 did themselves proud today showing their business acumen at the school fair! Their commitment and dedication was outstanding! Well done and thank u! A few pics of the fun…

Taking Poetry Outdoors

To start off our block of work on poetry we looked at haikus. We learned about the structure and origin of these poems and then went outdoors to get inspired by the nature on our doorstep. Pupils worked in small groups to create a haiku on the iPads, and then went on to make their own wonderful poems independently. I was so proud of everyone’s efforts and the finished products were fabulous!

Relax kids

Well P5B certainly relaxed with Mrs Anderson’s Relax Kids as part of our mental health awareness week! Hopefully might help a few of the class sleep better at night as some recognised they were quite tired!!

Riddles Court Drama Workshop

Primary 5C were lucky to have a drama workshop with Russell Clegg of Riddles Court yesterday. We learnt a lot about the people of the 1800s that lived there, some of the jobs they did and some of the problems they faced. It was a lot of fun.

Creative homework task

Thank you Theo, for sharing your creative homework task with us today. The children were asked to investigate household items containing palm oil as part of our rainforest project. Theo chose to make this paper aeroplane covered with all his findings. Great work Theo!

Bravo Primary 5!

Wow. What a performance the pupils put on this afternoon. All the hard work learning the songs paid off as the children performed with enthusiasm and confidence this afternoon. Here are some pictures from the day.
